Icy-Dips in All Seasons

Icy-Dips in All Seasons

Crystalline Seas

The days here in Sweden are getting shorter and darker earlier which I think is really cosy! In summer the sun would go down around 11 pm and back again super bright at 4am! Summer here is amazing but I really like it now that there are actual nights. The lovely cool scandinavian breeze is also back…:) I feel that when it’s colder I feel a lot more alert and focused. I went swimming this week and I always feel like a viking splashing about in the icy-cold waters. The sun still occasionaly comes about and the scenery becomes magical all around.  I love swimming in cold water as it is super invigorating.

Still waters run deep…

Cold Water Dip = Benefits

There are actually many benefits from emerging yourself in cold water- it boosts your immune system-because of the drastic change in temperature it increases the blood flow and the body subsequently starts producing more white cells.

-It produces an all-natural high thanks to the endorphins being released. Endorphins are the body’s natural pain killers and, in the case of a cold dip, it uses them to take the sting away from your skin.

Endorphins!!!

-It improves your sex life. During a cold water splash there is an apparent increase of production of testosterone and oestrogen both in men and in women. Whatever your procreative desires, a dip in some ice-cold water certainly could add an edge to your sex life.

-It burns calories. Swimming often in cold water will make your body work twice as hard to keep you warm and that burns more calories in the process. For this type of exercise, fat is your body’s primary source of energy and the increased work rate will increase your metabolism in the long run!

And…One Hundred….

I personally love the feeling of swimming during the beginning of winter. Then again it’s always a good time to jump in in an open lake surrounded by nature. This particular beach where I was at also had really smooth white mud at the bottom of my feet which smelled like sulphur. It is really good for the skin.

Now, add the cold water and you have an awesome combination for extra firm and silky smooth skin!

I am so looking forward to the winter coming and more icy-cool dips in the crystal clear lakes of sweet Sweden :))))

I’m water
we’re all water in different containers
that’s why it’s so easy to meet
someday we’ll evaporate together.”
